Swedish massage is the treatment most people picture when they think of a massage: long, gliding strokes, gentle kneading, and rhythmic pressure that works over the whole body. It's the right choice when the goal is to switch off — after a stretch of long work weeks, poor sleep, or general tension that has settled into the shoulders and back.

Your therapist arrives with a professional massage table, fresh linens, and a choice of oils, and sets up in any quiet corner of your home — a bedroom or living room with about two metres of free space is plenty. The session covers back, legs, arms, neck and shoulders, with pressure adjusted to your preference throughout. Tell the therapist what you want more or less of; a good Swedish massage is a conversation at the start and near-silence after.

What to expect

The first few minutes are about settling in: the therapist confirms any areas to focus on or avoid, you get comfortable under the sheet, and the session begins with broad warming strokes. Most people are noticeably calmer within ten minutes, and it's completely normal to drift off. Afterwards, drink water and give yourself a slow half hour — the effect carries into the evening and usually into that night's sleep.

Frequently asked questions

How is Swedish massage different from deep tissue?

Swedish massage uses lighter to medium pressure and flowing strokes aimed at overall relaxation. Deep tissue works slowly into specific tight areas with firm pressure. If you're unsure, start Swedish — the therapist can increase pressure in areas that need it.

What should I wear or prepare?

Nothing special. You undress to your comfort level and stay covered by a sheet except for the area being worked on. Keep a quiet room ready; the therapist brings the table, linens and oil.

Is 60 minutes enough?

Sixty minutes covers a full body sequence comfortably. If you want extra time on a specific area — usually back and shoulders — mention it as a special request when booking and we'll arrange an extended session.

Can I get this massage if I'm pregnant?

Standard Swedish massage isn't adapted for pregnancy. Tell us at booking and we'll assign a therapist experienced in prenatal positioning and safe techniques.

How often should I book?

For general stress management, every two to four weeks works well for most people. During particularly heavy periods at work, weekly sessions are common.
