Bridal, Reception or Party? Choosing the Right Makeup Service
Makeup services scale with the occasion — in time, intensity and cost. Booking the right tier saves money on ordinary events and saves regret on the ones that matter. Here's how to choose.
The three tiers
Party makeup — 90 minutes, full face plus a hairstyle. This is the get-ready-before-going-out tier: weddings you're attending, birthday dinners, office parties, date nights. The look is camera-ready and lasts the night, but it's built for real-world light, not stage light. If your event has no stage and no photographer on payroll, this is your tier.
Engagement / reception makeup — 2 hours, more sculpted base, fuller eye work, hairstyling and draping help included. Choose this when you're a principal at the event but not the bride: your own engagement or reception, sister-of-the-bride, mother-of, sangeet night performances, milestone anniversaries. The defining difference: this tier is built for warm indoor stage light and hundreds of photos.
Bridal makeup — 3 hours, the complete craft: HD base engineered for photography and long ceremony hours, eyes matched to the outfit, hairstyling with jewellery and veil/dupatta, full draping. Includes a consultation call beforehand. This is for the bride, full stop — and its 10–12 hour wear is engineered for a day of heat, emotion and a thousand photographs.
And mehendi runs alongside all of this — party mehendi per-hand for guests at functions, or the full bridal sitting (plan it two days before the wedding; the stain peaks exactly on time).
Common mistakes worth avoiding
Booking party makeup for a reception you're hosting. Stage light flattens a party-tier base; the photos will show it. If you'll be on a stage or in most of the photos, go up a tier.
Booking bridal for everything. Bridal is a specific craft for a specific day. For everyone who isn't the bride, reception-tier delivers the elegance without the bridal timeline or cost.
Skipping the trial. For brides: book a party makeup session as a trial with your artist noted in the request. Two hours of certainty is the cheapest insurance in the wedding budget.
New skincare in the final week. No first-time facials or products in the last seven days before a big event. A classic facial 4–5 days out, then leave your skin alone.

Group get-ready — bridesmaids, family, friends before a wedding — is its own happy category: tell us the headcount on WhatsApp and we'll send the right number of artists.
